Taylor
Taylor Swift may be the most unique of pop artists: one who could effortlessly bridge the gap between pop and country music while sweeping the globe. Swift shed her country roots like they were a second skin, revealing she was arguably the smartest populist singer/songwriter of her generation someone who was able to harness the mood of the moment and personalize it and also perform in the opposite direction. The skills she displayed were apparent on her earliest hits especially the Neo-Tribute Tim McGraw but her second album in 2008's Fearless featured a singer-songwriter figuring out her true identity and in the process, finding a mass audience. The album was able to have significant appeal not just on the U.S. where it racked up six platinum singles on the strength of the Top Ten hits Love Story and You Belong with Me but throughout the world performing particularly well with the U.K. Canada and Australia. Swift's second album Speak Now, released almost two years after the previous one, built on this success. It propelled Swift to superstardom. With the three albums that followed (Reputation 2017, 1989 2014, and Red 2012) Red 2012, 1989 2014 and Reputation 2017. her fame only grew. It was a clear sign she had moved to a new pop world that she could be part of. Although she slowed down her production with folklore, and Evermore released in 2020, she was in the forefront of pop music.
