Fawn Mckay

Fawn McCay Brodie was born in Ogden Utah September 15, 1915. She was a member of the Mormon Church's original family Fawn McKay devoted her brilliant creative writing skills and impressive research skills to creating an amazing psycho-historical account of Joseph Smith, published in 1945 under the title The Only Man knows My History. This title is derived from a funeral sermon given by the founding father of the Church of Latter-Day Saints in 1844 when he startled those he addressed with the words"You don't know me" you never knew my heart. Nobody knows my past. It is not possible for me to tell you. Fawn (29 an age) wrote that after her confessional moment the three hundred and thirty writers have stood up to the occasion. Certain writers have deified and even abused him, while others have attempted to diagnose the issue. It isn't that there aren't enough documents but they're rather divergent. This is the task--sifting out personal testimony from third party fraud and then blending Mormon and non-Mormon narratives into a coherent history. This is both exciting, as well as instructive. Fawn Brodie's professional life was dedicated to this goal. Thaddeus S. Stevens became immortalized through her works and the fruit of her study. The Devil drives (1959). Thomas Jefferson. The Intimate Histories (1974), and Richard Nixon.
